The first German-speaking YIntro will take place this summer, organised jointly by ERYICA’s member organisations in Germany (IJAB) and Austria (Bundesnetzwerk Österreichische Jugendinfos). YIntro is ERYICA’s basic training module for beginners in the field of Youth Information and offers training on four modules:

1. Background and Principles of Youth Information
2. Youth Information in Practice
3. The Art of Working with Young People in a Youth Information Setting
4. Continuous Development of Youth Information Work

The training will be carried out in two sessions:

• Session 1: 27. - 30.6.2011 in Gauting near Munich (Germany)

• Session 2: 19. - 22.9.2011 in Linz (Austria)

The Information Handbook has long been one of the key information services delivered to young people by Young Scot, the national youth information agency for Scotland. Aimed at young people leaving primary and entering high school, it provides information on a range of topics, including school, health, money, relationships and much more.

The book is carefully checked by experts at partner agencies to ensure it is a reliable and trustworthy source of information. The Handbook also combines local information with national information and 2011/2012 sees the production of 32 local versions – one for each of the municipalities within Scotland.

A total of 70,000 books will be printed and distributed. The design of the 2011/2012 Handbook is based on a smartphone theme following feedback from young people that many get their first phone when they move to high school and that smart phones are desired among this age group. The Handbook will be distributed over the next few months in time for the transition period into high school.
